Burna Boy equals Wizkid’s record, receives plaque for 1 billion streams in UK
Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, often known as Burna Boy, has officially reached one billion streams in the United Kingdom.
The 'African Giant' singer was honored with a BRIT plaque after his sold-out gig at the London Stadium on Saturday night.
He now joins his compatriot Wizkid as the only African artists to have surpassed one billion streams in the United Kingdom.
Burna Boy also has the record for the highest-peaking African album on the UK chart, with his sixth studio album 'Love, Damini' topping the charts in July 2022.
Following Saturday's sold-out performance, Burna Boy became the first African musician to sell out the 80,000-capacity London Stadium twice.
