Nigerian musicians have done more for national awareness than any ambassador – Ali Baba
Veteran stand-up comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, well known as Ali Baba, claims that Nigerian musicians have done more to raise national awareness than any of the country's ambassadors.
He regretted, however, that despite musicians' significant contributions to the nation, the entertainment and creative industries were not included in the government's economic goals.
Ali Baba gave an interview to Channels Television recently.
According to him, "Two years ago, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group examined a prediction of the Nigerian economy for the next five years, but the entertainment and creative industries were not included.
"A pamphlet of roughly 200 pages was created, but the creative industry was not considered. The value of Nigeria's creative industry extends beyond the country.
He went on to say, "Burna Boy has done far more for Nigerian national awareness than any ambassador sent in America, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else. So Nigerian musicians are raising national consciousness and informing other countries about us more effectively than any ambassador could."
