‘There are lots of fake people in music industry’ – Rema

Afrobeats musician Divine Ikubor, nicknamed Rema, has claimed that the Nigerian music industry is dominated by "fake people."

Speaking at the listening party for his sophomore album, 'He Is,' in Lagos on Thursday night, the 'Another Banger' singer revealed that the "fake" character of the Nigerian music industry inspired one of the album's tracks, 'Now I Know.'

Rema stated, "There are a lot of false people in the [music] industry; the industry itself is fake. So when individuals say, 'Yo, I adore this man,' no one should accuse them of wanting clout. No, it is real.

"When someone comes out, it's because they've seen someone who is genuine amid everyone in the chaotic industry, which is combined with both the false and the true. That is what this song ['Now I Know'] is about. Now I know who looks out for me. All of my loved ones became adversaries. Now I know who looks out for me. All of those I trusted became adversaries."

Rema's 11-track sophomore album, released on Thursday by Mavin Records, featuring guest appearances from Shallipopi and Odumodublvck.
