Transfer: Osimhen too expensive – Chelsea tell Napoli amid Lukaku talks
Chelsea maintains Victor Osimhen is too pricey, despite Napoli's decreased asking price. The Serie A club is willing to let Osimhen depart this summer.
The Super Eagle attacker has a €130 million (£110.8 million) clause in his current contract.
Although Osimhen has been connected with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain, none of them have expressed willingness to match Napoli's demands.
That has put the Italian club in a difficult situation because they are relying on Osimhen's transfer fee to support their summer spending, which includes a deal for Romelu Lukaku.
Napoli have begun talks with Chelsea about a trade for Lukaku, but the Premier League club is waiting for a team to satisfy the Belgian international's £38 million release clause.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Lukaku wants to reconnect with Conte at Napoli, and Chelsea is now willing to accept a reduced cost for the 31-year-old in the area of €25 million (£21.1 million) in order to complete the transfer.
According to the article, during their conversations, Napoli indicated that they could drop their estimate of Osimhen to €100 million (£84.6 million).
However, Chelsea still considers that sum to be too excessive, having signed a £42 million fee with Aston Villa for Colombian striker Jhon Duran last month.
