It's evident we have a problem—Ten Hag complains after defeat to Manchester City.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has identified the root cause of his team's 7-6 penalty defeat in the Community Shield on Saturday.
The former Ajax manager also refused to disclose Manchester United's interest in Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt.
Ten Hag, on the other hand, believes that his team must improve its defensive performance on the field.
Manchester United have already signed Leny Yoro, an 18-year-old centre-back from LOSC Lille, for a reputed €62 million.
However, the French kid sustained an injury and will be absent for several weeks.
According to journalist David Ornstein, the Red Devils are now looking to buy Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich for €45 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
Ten Hag declined to comment on De Ligt's arrival, saying (via Metro): "No, I can't." We will make an announcement as soon as we have news. Until then, we'll work with the squad that's available.
"It's apparent we have flaws (on defense), and we need to improve on them. To be available, the players must work, as do the personnel.
"Together it should be a good collaboration with the players who are available.”
