Afrobeats musician Stanley Omah Didia, often known as Omah Lay, has spoken out about how his prison experience in Uganda impacted his life and profession positively.

According to TalkTalk, Omah Lay and Tems were arrested, charged, and imprisoned in Uganda for appearing at a concert at Speke Resort in Kampala on December 12, 2020, in violation of COVID-19 social distancing requirements.

They were given bail after three days in detention.

In a recent interview with Amazon Music, Omah Lay revealed that his jail time changed his viewpoint on freedom.

He stated that following the event, his love for freedom grew stronger, which he conveyed in all of his songs.

"After three days in a cell, I cherish my freedom and fight for it with every record. I don't want to give Uganda too much credit for locking me up, but it changed my outlook on freedom," the 'Soso' singer admitted.
