End Bad Government: Spyro calls for 'entertainment break' amid nationwide protest.
Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, well known as Spyro, has asked for an entertainment break in the country.
Spyro made the appeal on Thursday, during the current national hunger strike dubbed #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.
The singer also called on religious leaders to intercede.
In a now-trending Instagram post, the singer expressed optimism that the government would listen and encouraged more celebrities to join the protest.
"I personally believe it is rather disrespectful to post anything entertaining right now. The country is bleeding, and we are all affected, whether we acknowledge it or not. I am deeply moved, and I particularly feel the agony of the typical man.
"I do not intend to remain silent, so I am calling on everyone with a platform to speak up. I'm praying that the government will see our cries this time and take meaningful efforts to improve the people's lives. #GODBLESSNIGERIA.
"I wish Men of God could speak up for the people like they did in the past...This is not a time to PRAY; it is a time to ACT; even the Bible says "FAITH without WORKS is dead" In the Bible, God used men of God as powerful tools to fight the government and liberate the people. "MOSES, your people need you right now."
