Lilly Allen, a British singer, has admitted that she returned an acquired puppy after it ate her family’s passports.

In a recent episode of her podcast 'Miss Her?', Allen revealed that she got the puppy named Mary during the coronavirus epidemic in 2020 but had to return it when it ate her passport and that of her two kids, Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11.

The singer revealed that she and her husband, actor David Harbour, are considering adopting a new puppy.

She explained, "We had already adopted a dog, but it ate my passport, so I returned her home. She ate all three of our passports and our visas, and I can't tell you how much money it took me to replace everything because of COVID.

"So, it was a complete logistical disaster. My children's father resides in England, and I couldn't get them back to see him for maybe four or five months because this f**king dog had eaten their passports. I couldn't look at her; I was thinking, 'You've ruined my life.'

"Passports weren't the only thing she ate, she was a very badly behaved dog and I really tried very hard with her but it just didn't work out and the passports were the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak."

While Allen resides in New York with movie star Harbour, she has two children from her previous marriage to Sam Cooper in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the animal rights organization PETA has sent Allen an open letter imploring her not to buy another dog.

According to the organization, dogs "should never be treated as accessories to be discarded when they become inconvenient".
