'I lost myself after mother's death.' – Wizkid

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Ayodeji Balogun, as Wizkid, is still grieving the death of his mother, Mrs Jane Morayo Balogun, and it was obvious in his recent collaboration with Asake, 'MMS'.

Wizkid's lyric takes listeners on a melancholy journey as he discusses how his mother's loss has changed him.

The singer admitted that after his mother died, he "lost" himself but eventually discovered his purpose.

"You are not fit to run from who you are."

Man, what will be, is set in stone...

Why did mother abandon me, yeah, e no long?

I lost myself and found my purpose.

Every day, I recognize that I am blessed.

Nothing, no face, vibe today.

He sings, "This kind thing, say na life we dey."

TalkTalk Nigeria reports that Wizkid's mother, Jane Morayo Balogun, died on August 18, 2023, in London.

"You are not fit to run from who you are."

On her posthumous birthday, July 4th, Wizkid mourned that his life was incomplete without his mother.

He stated that he misses her every day and that his heart is crushed forever.

Wizkid has revealed plans to release a new album in tribute of his late mother.

The album is called 'Morayo' after his mother's middle name.
