AFCON 2025 qualifier: Super Eagles unlucky in draw versus Rwanda—Dele-Bashiru
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru believes the Super Eagles deserved more from Tuesday's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Rwanda's Amavubi.
The Super Eagles were held to a scoreless draw at Kigali's Amahoro Stadium.
The final score would have been different if the Super Eagles had converted some of their chances throughout the game.
Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, Moses Simon, and Victor Osimhen all squandered excellent scoring chances for the three-time African champs.
However, Dele-Bashiru noted that it is a good thing they did not lose the game.
"I believe we played well; it was going to be difficult playing away. They are cheered on by their fans. Of course, there are many circumstances to consider." the Lazio midfielder said after the game.
"The issue was that we were unable to convert our chances, despite having enough opportunities to win the game. We have confirmed that we did not capitulate.
"This result will significantly improve our prospects of qualifying for the AFCON. It's not the outcome we intended, but it's not a bad one."
