'I can't be getting wages for doing nothing'- Singer Labaeka resigns as Kwara Gov's SA
Ibraheem Labaeka, a prominent Islamic singer, has resigned as the Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Labaeka announced his resignation in a letter dated Thursday, September 12, 2024, citing his discomfort with getting paid for doing nothing.
While expressing his discontent with the function he was allocated, he also stated that his conscience does not allow him to remain in a work where his contributions are unnecessary.
In a now-trending message on social media, the singer said, "I believe in being purposeful and impactful in whatever I do, and unfortunately, this position did not align with my principles."
While thanking the governor for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet, he stated, "Since my appointment is based on public trust, I cannot continue to break that trust by taking a salary for doing nothing."
