EPL: Awoniyi competes for a starting berth at Nottingham Forest.
Taiwo Awoniyi, a Nottingham Forest forward, is preparing to compete for a starting spot in the club, according to TalkTalk Nigeria.
Awoniyi suffered two injuries last season.
The 27-year-old underwent surgery to treat a groin ailment but was later hampered by a thigh injury.
Awoniyi also missed a portion of preseason due to personal issues.
He is seeking to improve his fitness after appearing as a substitute in Nottingham Forest's first three games of the season.
"Nottingham Forest is a team full of talented and trustworthy players. Tribal Football cited him as saying, "I simply need to keep pushing and training hard.
"It feels good to be back. Returning to play after an injury is something that every player wishes for. I'm quite delighted to be back on the field.
"I'm back; I'm healthy and fine. This is a difficult topic to address. However, as a player, you cannot miss this phase. When this occurs, you feel awful about it. But you simply have to get going, remain fit, and do your best for yourself.
