Cristiano Ronaldo suffers viral infection
Al Nassr has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has contracted a viral illness.
The Saudi Pro League team announced this in a statement on Sunday.
As a result, Ronaldo will not travel to Iraq to face Al-Shorta in the AFC Champions League.
His absence will be a major setback for Al-Nassr, who have struggled to get going this season and have already surrendered four points in the opening three Saudi Pro League matches.
The statement read: "Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo did not feel well today and was diagnosed with a viral virus.
"The team's doctor indicated that he needed to rest and remain at his location.
"As a result, he will not be accompanying the team to Iraq today. We wish a speedy recovery to our captain.”
