Afrobeats singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe aka Ayra Starr has revealed that she likes Ghanaian jollof rice to Nigerian jollof rice.
She shared this in a recent interview with BET Amplified.
The 'Bad Vibes' singer revealed that she enjoys Ghanaian jollof rice, citing the garnishing as the reason for her preference.
The 21-year-old singing singer also discussed the distinctions in the two countries' jollof rice customs.
When asked which country's jollof rice she prefers, Ayra Starr replied:
"Ghanaian jollof" .
"I mean, they are both fantastic. I grew up eating Nigerian jollof rice. Nigerian jollof is also known as party rice, as it is commonly consumed at celebrations. It's like a festive meal."
"The custom surrounding it is that they normally cook it outside in a large pot, which burns and smokes. So, it's called smokey jollof rice. Ghanaian jollof rice includes similar ingredients within, however Nigerian jollof rice has protein and vegetables outside if you add anything extra. So it's two distinct vibes."
