EPL: Rodri's season is ended, Guardiola confirms.

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City's manager, has confirmed that midfielder Rodri is out for the remainder of the season.

Rodri sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage in last weekend's Premier League match with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, according to the club.

The 28-year-old underwent surgery on Friday morning and will not play for City again until next season.

Guardiola told reporters that he had surgery this morning on his ACL and meniscus. The season is over.

"Unfortunately, we received the worst (news), but that is how it is at this level.

"Unfortunately, this does happen on occasion. We're just there to support him."

This is a significant setback for City, who are aiming to win the Premier League title for the sixth successive year.

Guardiola's side, who are top of the league after five games, play away to Newcastle United in the early kickoff on Saturday.
