October 1: Police advise against breaches of peace in Oyo.

The Oyo State Police Command has warned parents and guardians not to let their children be used to incite disturbance in the state.

The command offered this warning in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso.

The statement read in part: "As residents of Oyo State join the rest of the nation in celebrating her 64th Independence Anniversary, the Oyo State Police Command, under the constructive leadership of CP Sonubi Ayodele, in collaboration with other relevant sister services, has implemented comprehensive security strategies to ensure a successful anniversary outing.

"In a similar development, and in continuation of the numerous strategic stakeholder meetings held with parents, guardians, and leaders from various spheres of influence, the Command advises residents to caution their children, wards, and followers against being used as cannon fodder to disrupt the relative tranquillity in the state before, during, and after the anniversary celebrations, as those found culpable would face harsh sanctions.

"Furthermore, area commanders around the command have been asked to personally conduct convoy patrols in their respective jurisdictions in order to boost the layers of supervision over field operators under their watch during this period.

"Finally, the Oyo State Police Command desires to affirm its determination to work with all patriotic inhabitants of the  state while maintaining public order and safety for all.”
