'Young artistes have lowered the quality of music.' — Korede Bello
Korede Bello, a Nigerian singer, has stated that new artists have diminished the quality of music coming out of the country.
The 28-year-old spoke on a recent edition of Hip TV's Trending, which was presented by reality personality KimOprah.
He believes that youthful artists lack the necessary experience to produce high-quality music.
He claimed that the younger an artist achieves success, the lower the quality of their music.
Bello stated, "When young artists get to prominence, the quality of their music suffers because they lack quality experiences.
"They do not know how to live yet. Young people do not yet know how to live; all they know is that they are alive. They want to live large, so that is what they will sing about.
"If you listen to an African Chinese, where he comes from, he has witnessed stuff. Timaya, Fela—they all had experiences. Their songs are a reflection of reality.
"We should not blame these young artists; you can only give what you have."
