Ian Wright Fears Alexander Isak Will Snub Arsenal for Liverpool
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has expressed concern that Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak may reject a move to the Emirates in favor of joining Liverpool this summer.
Mikel Arteta has reportedly made the Swedish striker his top transfer target as he looks to strengthen Arsenal’s attack. With Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz suffering season-ending injuries, the Gunners desperately need a proven goal scorer.
However, Arsenal’s January pursuit of Isak stalled after Newcastle demanded £120 million, a fee that deterred the North London club.
Wright’s Worry Over Liverpool’s Attraction
Speaking on Stick To Football, Wright admitted he fears Liverpool’s project under new boss Arne Slot may appeal more to Isak:
“He would probably go to Liverpool. I’d like to think Mikel Arteta could convince him, but look at Liverpool and Arne Slot. Slot hasn’t even got his own players in yet.”
“That seems like a more attractive proposition, but again, Arsenal will need to do the work.”
“I would hate it if it was between Arsenal and Liverpool because he would probably go for Liverpool with the way it’s gone for Arne Slot.”
Should Arsenal Go All-In for Isak?
Isak has been in scintillating form, netting 19 goals in 24 Premier League matches this season. If Arsenal are serious about their title ambitions, they may need to meet Newcastle’s valuation or risk losing out to Liverpool or another top club.
Would Isak be the perfect striker for Arsenal, or should they pursue a cheaper alternative? Let’s discuss! ⚽🔥
