Tacha Lashes Out at Nigerians in the UK for Ignoring Her in Public

Tacha Lashes Out at Nigerians in the UK for Ignoring Her in Public

Former Big Brother Naija star and media personality, Natasha Anita Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has expressed her frustration over the way Nigerians in the United Kingdom treat her in public.

In a recent video shared on her social media page, the reality star called out Nigerians for refusing to acknowledge her presence when they meet her in public, yet secretly taking out their phones to record her.

“You guys would not believe that I saw so many Nigerians today, which was great. But the craziest part is that they would see you and won’t say hi to you.”

Tacha contrasted this experience with how white people and even an old man complimented her during her outing, making the lack of recognition from fellow Nigerians even more puzzling.

Tacha's Message: ‘Don’t Record Me If You Won’t Say Hi’

Clearly displeased, she issued a stern warning to Nigerians in the UK:

“If you see me on the road and don’t say hi to me, it’s fine. I don’t need anybody to say hi to me, and I’m not going to say hi to you either. But don’t bring out your phone to record me.”

A Deeper Look: Is Celebrity Culture Different Abroad?

Tacha’s experience raises an interesting question about how Nigerians abroad engage with celebrities compared to those back home. In Nigeria, public figures are often showered with love, excitement, and even dramatic fan interactions. However, in places like the UK, where social norms lean more toward reserved behavior, people might feel less inclined to approach celebrities.

Could it be that these Nigerians are simply respecting her space, or is there an underlying reluctance to openly celebrate Nigerian stars abroad?

Whatever the case, Tacha’s message is clear—if you’re not going to say hello, then keep the phone in your pocket.
