Rangers International FC have advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2025 President Federation Cup, following a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout victory over fierce Oriental rivals, Heartland FC.
The match, played at the Awka Township Stadium on Wednesday, ended 1-1 in regulation time, forcing the teams into a tense penalty showdown. Rangers held their nerve, converting all five of their spot-kicks to secure the win.

Speaking after the game, Rangers assistant coach, Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu, acknowledged the difficulty of the encounter, praising his players for their resilience.
“It was a tough match as expected, but we gave our best to emerge victorious over our neighbors, Heartland,” he said.
Despite the challenge, he emphasized that Rangers' ultimate goal remains lifting the 2025 President Federation Cup.
“We keep working on the team as our target remains going as far as winning the trophy for the seventh time.”
