AFCON 2025 qualifier: Libya's audience would be hostile, Super Eagles warned.

AFCON 2025 qualifier: Libya's audience would be hostile, Super Eagles warned.

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has warned his teammates to expect a hostile environment when they face Libya in the second leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Tuesday in Benghazi.

Troost-Ekong's caution comes after Nigeria's 1-0 victory over Libya in the first leg on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the only goal of the match in the second half, securing a crucial win for the Super Eagles.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Troost-Ekong acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, "Libya will come out fighting, but we want to go there and seal our AFCON qualification. The crowd will be hostile there; they will make it hard for us, but we will be ready."

Nigeria currently leads Group D with seven points from three matches, while Libya sits at the bottom with just one point. The Super Eagles are determined to secure their qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament in the upcoming clash.
