Olympic qualifier: NVF invites nine players to camp

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has invited nine players to camp in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifications, with the Nigeria women's beach volleyball team hoping to be the only African team to qualify, according to TalkTalk Nigeria Sports Extra.

The qualifiers are held in Morocco from June 19 to June 23.

TalkTalk Nigeria Sports Extra stated that the Nigeria women's beach volleyball squad will return to camp on Friday, April 26, where coach Kayode Ajilore will put them through hard training.
Dare Kuti, media assistant to the president of the volleyball federation, told TalkTalk NigeriaSports Extra that the girls are preparing for a qualifier in June and would resume camp on Friday.

"The list of players expected in camp will be released soon and made available to the media although they (players) have been contacted."

On Friday, Kuti confirmed the list of invited players with our correspondent.
"The players and coaches listed below will resume Beach Camp in Kaduna from April 28 to June 28 in preparation for the continental Beach Championship in Morocco.

"Esther Mbah (Nasarawa State University), Pamela Bawa (NY Spikers Abuja), Francisca Ikheide (Nigeria Customs Service), Naomi Yaro (Kada Emeralds), Sarah Sanda (Kada Emeralds), Ifunanya Udeagbala (Anambra Queens), Sharon Sunday (Kada Princess), Agape Sunday (Destiny Spikers) and Blessing Lawrence (Peace Spikers)."

The women's beach volleyball team earned a bronze medal in the 13th African Games in Ghana, securing a spot in the qualifiers.

France, the host nation, was automatically allocated one of the 24 berths, while the United States, the winners of the 2023 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, also received one spot.

The FIVB awards one berth to the champion of each continental confederation's Olympic qualification event. Nigeria will compete for the last African slot.
