Double delight for Mbaoma after Rwanda league win

Double delight for Mbaoma after Rwanda league win

Victor Mbaoma, a former Enyimba, Remo Stars, and Katsina United striker who turned down the opportunity to continue in the Nigeria Premier Football League last year in favor of APR in the Rwanda Premier League, has finished his first season with the league title, joint-highest goal scorer award, and an unbeaten streak of 30 games, according to TalkTalk Nigeria Sports Extra.

APR finished the season on Sunday with a 1-1 tie at home against Amagaju, and they went on to win the league with 68 points.

They won the Rwandan league for the 22nd time, finishing 11 points ahead of Rayon Sports.

Mbaoma's 15 goals made him the joint-highest goal scorer.

"I came, I saw, and I conquered," the gamer posted on Facebook.

"It's been a hard road to get here, but believe me, I'm overjoyed to be the champion and league joint top scorer this season, with 15 and 20 goals in all competitions, respectively, and 30 games unbroken.
Mbaoma signed a two-year contract with the 22-time Rwandan league champions, which were created in 1993.

During his stint in the NPFL, the 27-year-old was a prolific goal scorer. He was the NPFL's joint top scorer in 2022 with 16 goals before leaving Enyimba to join Algerian side Mouloudia Club Oranais.

After finishing his contract in Algeria, he had a brief run with Katsina United in the Nigerian National League playoffs, where he scored four goals in three games to help them return to the topflight just after a year in the second division.

He was then courted by his former side Remo Stars before he snubbed them for a move to Rwanda, where he is now a league champion.
