Finidi George Promises NPFL Players Space In Super Eagles

Finidi George Promises NPFL Players Space In Super Eagles

Finidi George, the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has committed to witness all Enyimba of Aba games as part of his plan to integrate Nigeria Premier Football League players with foreign-based players.
Finidi George was the head coach of Enyimba for nearly three seasons and also served as the Super Eagles' assistant coach.
Finidi stepped down as Enyimba's coach just days after being confirmed as the Super Eagles' head coach to focus on his new role.

After being introduced as the Super Eagles' head coach in Abuja on Monday, the Port Harcourt native traveled to Aba for a goodbye interview with the media.

During the conversation, he was asked if he would frequent Enyimba of Aba stadium, and the former Ajax winger responded yes, revealing his aspirations to mix local and foreign-based players.

"Definitely I will still come back to Aba to watch Enyimba play because I now must mix the Super Eagles team up with the home-based players," Finidi stated.

"Aba will undoubtedly be my first stop when I arrive to watch Enyimba play. Most likely, I'll find one or two that I can bring with me to the Super Eagles."
Finidi George and his new team will meet for the first time later this month to begin their preparations for the two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to take on South Africa in Uyo on June 7 and then take on Benin Republic in Abidjan on June 10. They must win the two games to brighten their chances of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in eight years.
