‘Very soon, they’ll say afrobeats is dead’ – Skales
Skales, a Nigerian rapper and singer, has responded to Afrobeats artist Wizkid's controversial statement that "hip-hop is dead."
In an interview with Hip TV, Skales stated, "Everybody has an opinion. Wizkid has his own perspective, which is that "hip-hop is dead." However, my personal life philosophy is that everything has a time and season.
"Everything comes and goes, and there will be another recycle, so if you are hot today, you may not be hot tomorrow. Today, if everyone is feeling rap, tomorrow it will be Afrobeats, then Amapiano, and so on.
"So I'm not saying hip-hop is dead. Something cannot be said to be dead; it simply no longer has its time. The excitement has shifted elsewhere. I'm sure they'll declare Afrobeats dead shortly. It is simply a matter of timing. Nothing is intended to last forever. That is why we will all die one day.
