Sporting Lagos target Immediate return to NPFL

Sporting Lagos is aiming for an instant return to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Abdullahi Biffo's team was relegated from the NPFL in the recently finished season.


Sporting Lagos will play in the Nigerian National League next season.

The small club went to their X account to thank their followers and promise a fast return to the NPFL.

"After a whirlwind debut season in the NPFL, Sunday's against Shooting Stars confirms our relegation," according to a statement.

"It's been an emotional few weeks—an emotional year. This season has been memorable, with a seven-game losing streak and a landslide SW derby, as well as Lagos Island roadshows and away game road excursions.

"But this is a 100-year project, and today's setbacks will serve as stepping stones for tomorrow. We will undoubtedly be back in top flight as soon as possible.

"To our fans who travel from near and far and have persevered with us through every win and loss, we extend our heartfelt gratitude.

“You have made every blow less painful and every triumph infinitely more meaningful.”
