EPL: Why I stayed away from Diego Costa at Chelsea – Mikel Obi
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has explained why he avoided ex-teammate Diego Costa's outrageous pranks in the dressing room.
Costa was well-known for his ability to put defenders under pressure.
From 2014 to 2017, the Spanish striker made 120 appearances across competitions for Chelsea, scoring 59 goals and providing 21 assists.
Despite his theatrics on the pitch, Costa was adored by his Chelsea teammates.
However, Mikel Obi admitted that he kept his distance from the former Atletico Madrid player in the locker room.
The former Super Eagles midfielder playfully revealed his reasoning (via talkSPORT):
"How long do we have? Crazy, crazy man. He is a guy in the changing room after training, and you are seated in the dressing room and Diego Costa is sitting there.
"He's gazing at everyone walking about naked, attempting to flick you with a towel and grab whatever he can. Yeah, he goes insane.
"That's what he does." "When you see him in the dressing room, you just run out."
