Racist video: I don't condone such behavior - Mikel Obi strikes Chelsea midfielder
Former Super Eagles and Chelsea player John Obi Mikel has slammed Enzo Fernandez for singing racist songs with his Argentina teammates.
Fernandez faced widespread criticism after footage emerged of him and his Argentina teammates singing a disrespectful song targeting French players of African descent.
The incident occurred following Argentina's 2024 Copa América victory over Colombia.
Mikel stated on his podcast that he does not support such actions.
"The whole issue is really delicate, as it always is when anything like this occurs. Everybody has an opinion on these matters. Mikel Obi stated that he does not condone such behavior as a person or a footballer.
"Sometimes adrenaline simply takes over everything else. You've won the Copa America twice in a row, which is really incredible.
"However, I do not condone that [kind of behaviour]. When you're winning, you should be responsible. You should be more humble and understand that everything you do is being picked up. I don't think that was worthwhile. It just spoils the whole celebration and everything they have achieved.”
He continued, "I don't think it was just him singing; everyone was. It was incorrect, and it is not his business to say such things.
