No reason to protest, Nigeria okay – Portable

No reason to protest, Nigeria okay – Portable

Despite the economic hardships faced by citizens, controversial Nigerian artist Portable has claimed that there is no justification for the planned statewide protest.

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, many Nigerians, organized through various bodies, are preparing a nationwide demonstration between August 1 and 10, 2024, in response to the rising cost of living under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Portable stated in a post on his Instagram account on Thursday that there is no reason to demonstrate, alleging that those planning to protest are unemployed.

The musician, while warning that no one should ask him to perform at the protest, blamed the situation on sloth.

"It will not go well if somebody tells me to perform during the protest. Don't you also have a producer? You should also collect the microphone and join the demonstration.

"Please, I need money; I am hustling. If you take your job seriously, you will not attend the protest. Do not fight for Nigeria; fight for yourself.

"Nigeria is fine; you are not fine. There is money in some locations; however, you are the one who did not hustle or were not faithful to your helper.

"You are the one who does not establish connections. There are people who can help, and there are jobs available. You are the one who is not working. Fight for yourself,” Portable said.
