‘I shouldn’t have said I don’t listen to other artistes’ music’ – Simi makes U-turn

Simi has reversed her position after receiving outrage for her comments regarding other Nigerian musicians.

Simi admitted that her statement was "weird".

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Simi claimed in a recent interview that she only listens to music from her husband, Adekunle Gold.

Her comment surprised netizens, who accused her of being arrogant.

In response to the reaction, Simi stated in a lengthy post on her official X that she should have approached the subject more cautiously.

She wrote, "In retrospect, I should have handled this talk more carefully. I didn't because I don't see it as cocky. I've never been proud of it. I don't understand how this is something to be proud of.

"It was all in good fun. In the wrong location. This is why I realize I should have been more cautious. It was a two-hour interview with drinking and cussing, so I was conversing like I would with friends. It hurts to know that whoever clipped that clip and penned that title did so with intent. It is impossible to see the entire interview and not feel as if you have watched the footage that everyone is spreading," she remarked.
