‘How I handle stage fright’ – Simi
Simisola Kosoko, a Nigerian musician and performer better known as Simi, has spoken up about how she deals with stage fear.
The 'Joromi' singer, who has a history of stage fright, explained that the first few times she performs a new song live on stage are like "trying on a new pair of shoes that needs adjustments."
She stated that she needed to allow her brain time to connect with the song so that it could learn to ignore her anxiety.
Simi shared a video of herself rehearsing a song off her latest album, 'Lost And Found,' with X, writing, "The first few times I have to play a new song (any song) live on stage is like trying on a new pair of shoes that needs modifications.
"I'm not sure why that is. Lol. Perhaps it's because I have a history of severe stage fright. Now I need to allow my brain time to connect with the song so it can learn to ignore myself and my nerves.
"Anyway, this night, I kept rehearsing this song (maybe too much), because it was my first time singing it on stage, and of course the nervousness set in. But I still have one or two more to go until I get out of the way and my brain takes over lol.”
