Kwara government assures stadium upgrade ahead of new NPFL season
The Kwara State administration has pledged that the Ilorin Township Stadium will be ready before the start of the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, the head of the state sports commission, claimed this during a media interview in Ilorin.
Mogaji denied that a political rally had caused damage to the stadium.
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, the NPFL has sought for upgrades to the Ilorin Township Stadium and six other stadiums.
"Only a person that has been in Kwara for the last four years would say that the Kwara State stadium main bowl was used for political rallies," he told the newspaper.
"Kwara State Stadium boasts one of the best turf surfaces in the country.
"It is normal that at the end of the season, some patches or aspects of the stadium will require repair." That is what the league body is stating."
