Why I stopped supporting VeryDarkMan and Ruggedman

Why I stopped supporting VeryDarkMan and Ruggedman

Popular Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, also known as Ruggedman, has explained why he stopped backing controversial self-proclaimed activist VeryDarkMan.

In a recent episode of the Echoo Room podcast, the singer stated that he stopped supporting VeryDarkMan due to his intrusion into people's privacy.

He pointed out that VeryDarkMan's approach to advocacy is no longer logical.

"I loved VeryDarkMan at first when he started with the entire NAFDAC number thing, but then he started getting personal about people's private lives, particularly with ladies. To me, he is simply distracting himself.

"But it's like saying a police officer used his last resort as the first. They will tell you, but as a professional, you should be used to it.

"So, even if someone says something negative about you, there is a way to confront it. Not your mother, but your father. You won't catch me doing it, but that's me.

"I don't like his approach anymore. He was calling out people who sell products without a NAFDAC number, which is great; but, today what do you hear about him?

"Iyabo Ojo and her daughter, that's why I said I'm not comfortable with his approach. So whatever reaction he receives from them will most likely be what he said.

"I believe he was referring to Mohbad's position. Where he stated that the old retired actresses are attempting to use the issue as leverage. Everyone knows who it was: Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh.

"Now you can't say something like that and expect people to react. So he started it. That is what I meant by "people's private lives."
