Premier League reveals why Declan Rice received red during Arsenal's match against Brighton.
The Premier League has revealed why Declan Rice, an Arsenal midfielder, was sent off in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Brighton.
The Gunners' unbeaten start to the season came to an end in front of their fans.
In the first half, Kai Havertz scored after receiving a pass from Bukayo Saka.
However, the game was flipped on its head when Rice received his second booking in the second half.
Rice, who had got a yellow card in the first half for colliding with Joel Veltman, was sent off just four minutes after the restart after he shoved the ball away from the same player as he prepared to take a free kick.
Rice was punished for making barely minimal contact with the ball and taking a kick to the shin, for “delaying the restart, ” according to the official Premier League match centre.
