Transfer: Sunderland complete signing of ex-Flying Eagles star Abdullahi
Sunderland have announced the acquisition of Ahmed Abdullahi, a former Flying Eagles attacker.
Abdullahi joined Sunderland from Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent for an unknown amount.
The 20-year-old signed a four-year contract with an option for an extra year.
Last season, the Nigerian scored 21 goals in 28 league games for Gent B Team.
Sunderland's sporting director, Kristjaan Speakman, offers positive words for Abdullahi.
"We're happy to welcome Ahmed to Sunderland. He is a natural centre forward who enjoys playing in central areas and is a terrific finisher," Soeakman stated on the club's official website.
"He has a great goal-scoring record at junior level and was recently promoted to Gent's senior team. We will give him time to adjust and will help him throughout the process, but he will provide immediate competition to our attacking line, and we hope to see him grow with us during the season and beyond."
He was part of the Flying Eagles' roster for the 2022 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.
