Taylor Swift's Vienna concerts were cancelled due to a threatened Islamist attack.

Taylor Swift, the American singer, has cancelled three concerts in Vienna this week due to an Islamist terrorism plot.

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, the cancellation followed the government's confirmation of a planned stadium attack.

Barracuda Music, the show's organizer, announced the news late Wednesday, and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer stated that a catastrophe had been avoided.

On Instagram, the organizer stated: "With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone's safety."

The promoters also stated that all tickets purchased for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's concerts will be returned.

Recall that the government had previously acknowledged the arrest of a 19-year-old Islamic State (IS) sympathiser for allegedly preparing an Islamist assault in the Vienna region, warning that he had a "focus" on Swift's three scheduled concerts.

Franz Ruf, Austria's top security chief, told a press conference that the suspect, who had declared allegiance to IS in recent weeks, was apprehended in Lower Austria, approximately an hour from the capital, early on Wednesday.
