Rema contributes N105 million to Christ Embassy Church.
Nigerian worldwide musical celebrity Divine Ikubor, well known as Rema, has contributed N105 million to Christ Embassy Church in Benin City, Edo State.
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, the Edo-born musician was in the state to celebrate Edo@33, where he performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Dome and a musical concert at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium at the state government's request.
Rema, who made the donation to the church's Edo Regional Headquarters on Erediauwa Street off Ekenwa Road, expressed gratitude for the church's help for his family during a tough era in his boyhood.
The international musical talent, who was at the church for a Thanksgiving service, spoke of the church's significance in his family's life after his father died when he was just eight years old.
According to him, "I am not here to give myself any accolades or glory, but to give God the glory."
"And I felt it was vital to give back to the church that has welcomed me, prayed for me, and kept me in line with my spirit.
"When I was eight years old and lost my father, we felt completely lost and abandoned.
"All that we had were taken from us and we felt alone, and I remember at the time Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church; they opened a shop for my mum, and that was what she managed to take care of and feed us."
He stated that he donated N150 million to the church as a gesture of gratitude for what the church had done for his family.
"First and foremost, I would like to offer N40 million to the church's infrastructure development, N20 million to the Rhapsody of Realities publishing, and, given that I came from the teen church, N25 million to the church.
"And just to add to that, if there is any widow in church today, I am pledging N20 million to assist all the widows in attendance,” he added.
