VeryDarkMan Accuses EFCC of Plotting His Arrest

VeryDarkMan Accuses EFCC of Plotting His Arrest

Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has raised serious allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claiming the agency is conspiring to arrest him over his outspoken criticism of its chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan alleged that a prominent lawyer and a social media influencer recently visited the EFCC office to present clips and pictures of him spraying money, allegedly as part of a scheme to implicate him.

"EFCC Abuja, I heard you people had two visitors today—one of them an influencer and the other a very big, influential lawyer," he said. "I know you would be wondering how I found out, but the truth is that I have informants in your office. They said this is an opportunity for you to go after VeryDarkMan."

He further claimed that an EFCC officer had acknowledged his constant criticism of the agency, suggesting that they saw this as a chance to act against him.

A Case of Targeting Critics or Legitimate Investigation?

This development raises important questions. Is this a case of a government agency using its power to silence a critic, or is there genuine cause for concern over VeryDarkMan’s alleged actions?

VeryDarkMan has built his reputation by calling out institutions, public figures, and societal issues, often in a blunt and controversial manner. His fearless approach has earned him both a loyal following and powerful adversaries. If his claims are true, this would reinforce concerns about the misuse of state agencies to intimidate voices of dissent.

On the other hand, spraying money—a common practice at social events in Nigeria—has been classified as a potential financial crime under Nigeria’s anti-money laundering laws. If the EFCC is indeed investigating him for this, the agency may argue that it is simply upholding the law. However, the timing and context of this alleged move raise suspicions of selective enforcement.

What Happens Next?

As of now, the EFCC has not responded to the allegations. If an arrest does happen, it could spark significant public backlash, especially among VeryDarkMan’s supporters, who see him as a fearless advocate against corruption and injustice.

This is a developing situation, and the coming days will reveal whether this is just another social media storm or a deeper attempt to clamp down on dissenting voices in Nigeria.
