Ruben Amorim Admits Uncertainty Over Manchester United Future Amid Struggles

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has admitted he is unsure if he will still be in charge when the club eventually returns to its former glories.

His comments come in the wake of United’s FA Cup elimination at the hands of Fulham in a penalty shootout, adding to what has already been a disappointing season. The Red Devils currently sit 14th in the Premier League, far from their usual top-four aspirations.

Despite their domestic struggles, United remain one of the favourites to win the UEFA Europa League this season. Amorim has been vocal about his long-term ambition to bring league titles back to Old Trafford, but he also acknowledged that patience in football is often short-lived.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Portuguese tactician said:
"I don’t know if I’m going to be here, but the way we are thinking, we are going to return, and we are going to win in the future. But then it’s the risk. We are doing a lot of things, we are not winning games, and when you don’t win games sometimes you have to change people, and we know that."

A Manager Under Pressure

Amorim’s words reflect the brutal reality of managing a club as big as Manchester United. While the rebuilding process takes time, poor results often force clubs to make changes before progress can fully take shape.

The biggest challenge for Amorim isn’t just his tactical setup or squad management—it’s surviving the scrutiny of fans and club executives long enough to see his vision come to life. United have gone through multiple managers in recent years, with none truly restoring them to the heights they once enjoyed under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Is There Light at the End of the Tunnel?

Despite the setbacks, United still have an opportunity to salvage something from the season in the Europa League. A deep run or even a trophy could buy Amorim some much-needed time. However, failure to secure silverware or improve their league form could see him follow in the footsteps of his predecessors.

With growing frustration among fans and uncertainty at boardroom level, Amorim’s United tenure hangs in the balance. The question remains: will he be given the time to complete his rebuild, or is another managerial change looming? Only time will tell.
