NPFL: Bassey seeks supporters' support despite dismal form.

Akwa United has encouraged club supporters to be patient with the team.

Elder Paul Bassey, Chairman of the Promise Keepers, made the call at a media interview with the club on Wednesday.

Akwa United is winless in five league games this season.

"If there is any time the club needs support, total support, it is now that we are struggling to overcome the hangover of last season," Bassey said to Akwa United's media.

"Our players do well away from home, but are put under unnecessary strain at home, causing them to become worried.

"It is only in Uyo that a pocket of fans will start cheering the opposition few minutes into the match in a game where the outcome can only be known at the blast of the final whistle after 90 minutes" according to management.

"In other climes, teams lose scandalously at home, yet come next week-end, not a single seat will be found empty in the stadium and some of us support these teams forever, through thick and thin."
