EPL: Chelsea legend disappointed by club’s decision to sack Pochettino

Ashley Cole, a Chelsea icon, has expressed his sadness at the club's decision to cut company with former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Cole thought the team was progressing under Pochettino's direction and hoped the decision would help the club's progress.

Pochettino was recently terminated as Chelsea's manager.
Cole, in an interview with Virgin Media Sport, stressed the complexity of the Chelsea management post and expressed astonishment at Pochettino's departure.


"It was always going to be difficult because of the expectations set by the board; it was a difficult start for him, but finishing where they did was a fantastic accomplishment in and of itself.

"I'm disappointed that he went, but they have their own thoughts about where they see the team going and which manager they want to bring in for that. Hopefully, the direction is to win.”
