Euro 2024: I was at rock bottom when Portugal needed me most – Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal's captain, has stated that he was at rock bottom when his team needed him the most.
Ronaldo said after his team's Euro 2024 Round of 16 victory over Slovenia on Monday.
His penalty was saved in extra time, leaving the last-16 tie goalless.
However, just 15 minutes later, the Al-Nassr attacker took the identical location and scored Portugal's first shootout goal.
Diogo Costa, Portugal's goalkeeper, then made Euros history with three penalty shootout saves, advancing the team to the last eight.
Ronaldo stated after the game, "Even the strongest people have their [bad] days." I was at my lowest point right when the team needed me the most.
"Sadness at the beginning becomes joy at the end. That's what football is. Moments, unexplainable moments. I feel both sad and delighted at the same moment.
"What matters most is that you enjoy it. The staff did an excellent job. We fought till the finish, and I believe we deserved it since we had more authority.
