It's Satanic. — MURIC demands for a ban on films featuring Nancy Isime in niqab.

It's Satanic. — MURIC demands for a ban on films featuring Nancy Isime in niqab.

The Muslim Rights Concern, or MURIC, has urged the federal government to prohibit a controversial film starring actress Nancy Isime.

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Isime tweeted a poster for the upcoming film 'Blood Brothers,' in which she is wearing a niqab and clutching a rifle.

The niqab is a long garment worn by Muslim women to cover their body and faces, excluding the eyes.

However, the tweet sparked a firestorm of criticism on the internet, with several Muslims expressing their displeasure with the actress for wearing a niqab during a robbery scene in the film.

In response to the controversy, Ishaq Akintola, director of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), labeled the video as satanic in a statement released on Thursday.

While urging the National Film and Video Censors Board, or NFVCB, to ban the film, Akintola stated that it is anti-Muslim.

According to him, "An very anti-Muslim film has been released in Nigeria's film industry. Nancy Isime recently announced that the future film will include ladies in purdah wielding hazardous weapons and robbing banks. This is extreme Islamophobia. The film is diabolical, repulsive, and provocative.

"It is intended to portray Muslim women as criminals with a violent tendencies. Also capable of influencing the populace against Muslim women.

"We feel this is the product of Muslim bigots and part of a scheme to prevent our women from wearing hijab and niqab.

"The plan was devised a long time ago, and its execution began in the classrooms. Muslims openly and painstakingly opposed this plot in Nigerian courts until the highest court in the land issued a ruling on it. This Satanic film is the most recent effort in the war against the hijab.

"If appropriate authorities do not act quickly, this hate video has the potential to set Nigeria on fire. We thus ask on the NFVCB to investigate and place an immediate ban on the coming film.

"To Nigerian Muslims who have overwhelmed our communication channels with voice notes, video clips, and other forms of messaging, please remain calm and peaceful. You have communicated clearly. Allow the authorities to take the appropriate measures."
