Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has announced that he intends to keep Marc Guiu in the first-team squad this season.

The 18-year-old joined the Blues in a £5 million deal from Barcelona this summer.

Guiu played in both the 2-2 draw with Wrexham and the 4-1 loss to Celtic on Saturday.

Many people assumed the adolescent would be sent out on loan to gain more experience.

However, following the game against Chelsea, Maresca stated: "The idea with Marc, with all the young players, is to take a look now during the pre-season and then make a final decision."

"I think Marc is doing well and he's one of the guys in this moment is going to stay with us and not going to go somewhere."
