Mohbad's family rejects Yomi Fabiyi's invitation to protest.
The family of late singer Mohbad has objected to actress Yomi Fabiyi's recent request for a protest at the next court hearing.
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Mohbad died in unexplained circumstances on September 12, 2023.
His body was later exhumed for autopsy at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, or LASUTH.
The toxicology study, however, revealed no substantial discoveries that could be linked to his death.
Mohbad's family rejected the report and wanted an independent autopsy.
In preparation for Mohbad's one-year anniversary, Fabiyi asked the public to peacefully protest the next court hearing.
He also advocated holding a peaceful protest on the first anniversary of Mohbad's death to call for justice.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by a member of its legal team, Monisola Odumosu, the family warned that holding a protest within the courtroom jeopardizes the smooth progress of the proceedings.
The statement stated that all operations must be performed in a civil manner to prevent contempt of court.
"Anyone is free to do anything he or she wants as long as they follow the law. The Constitution guarantees everyone the right to express his or her grievances.
"However, entering the court precinct is another matter entirely. They must not make any noise. The administration of justice in the courtroom must not be interrupted in any way. Lest they be prosecuted with contempt of court.
"Our advice is that they should not disrupt the proceedings in the court in any form whilst they exercise their rights," according to a statement.
