'I'm building my first house after 20 years': Seun Kuti questions colleagues' wealth
Maverick musician Seun Kuti has questioned his music business colleagues about their sources of money.
During a recent Instagram Live session, Kuti cast doubt on the fortune of some of his colleagues, dismissing the likelihood that their great wealth stems from musical revenues.
He added that despite touring for 20 years, he is only building his first home, yet artists with fewer than two hit songs are wealthier than him.
Kuti stated, "I've been touring for over 20 years and I'm only now building my first house. Where does the music money come from? Musicians never get two songs; instead, they purchase Lamborghini and G-wagons. "Where is this music money coming from?"
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, more Nigerian artists have recently stepped out to gloat about the music industry's lucrativeness.
Rapper Shallipopi earlier remarked in an interview that there is a lot of money in the music industry, emphasizing that his financial breakthrough occurred after releasing a few singles.
Portable, a singer, once remarked that the music industry is more profitable than rituals, fraud, and football.
