EPL: Arteta reportedly stopped Arsenal's interest in Osimhen 'after public spat with Finidi'
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, reportedly halted his interest in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli following a public feud with former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George.
TeamNewsAndTix, a prominent football blogger, made this assertion on his Patreon channel.
According to him, Arteta was concerned about both Osimhen's attitude and his excessive wage expectations.
The Arsenal manager eventually opted against signing the Nigerian striker after questioning Finidi, the national team's coach at the time, on Instagram.
Osimhen launched an emotional diatribe against Finidi on social media, following false reports that the coach had declared he would not ask anyone to play for Nigeria.
His actions at the time prompted condemnation from a variety of sources, with some demanding for him to be expelled from the Eagles club.
Osimhen finally finalized a season-long loan move to Galatasaray this week, after Arsenal failed to buy a striker in the summer.
However, TeamNewsAndTix reported that Arteta was interested in signing Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.
He stated that Arsenal will still try to get Isak next summer since he is "very, very high on Arteta's list".
