Joe Cole Tips Victor Osimhen as Perfect Summer Signing for Arsenal
Former Chelsea star and Premier League veteran, Joe Cole, has thrown his weight behind Victor Osimhen as the ideal striker to bolster Arsenal's attack ahead of next season.
Speaking on the Dressing Room Podcast, Cole praised Osimhen’s current form and stated that the Nigerian international would be the “perfect fit” for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has reignited his career with 29 goals and 5 assists in 33 appearances under manager Okan Buruk. Despite being heavily linked to the Gunners last summer, his staggering €130 million release clause proved to be a deal-breaker at the time.
But with another summer window approaching, and Osimhen expected to make another big move, Cole believes Arsenal should pounce.
“Osimhen… he’s banging in goals, and he looks perfect for Arsenal,” said Cole.
“Isak, yeah, but why would he go to Arsenal now? If Newcastle could spend more, I can’t see Isak being an option. Osimhen is the one for me.”
Opinion: Arsenal’s Missing Piece? Osimhen Could Be It
Joe Cole might just be onto something here. For all Arsenal’s brilliance under Mikel Arteta this season—fluid midfield, disciplined defense, and vibrant wings—the one area that still feels a little incomplete is the No. 9 role.
While Gabriel Jesus brings work rate and versatility, and Kai Havertz has filled in admirably, neither possesses the ruthless, instinctive finishing of someone like Osimhen. The Super Eagles striker not only offers pace and power, but his poacher’s instinct and ability to bully defenders could add an extra edge to Arsenal’s title aspirations.
The price tag remains a hurdle, but in the world of elite football, quality strikers are a rare commodity. With Osimhen, Arsenal wouldn’t just be buying goals—they’d be buying belief.
If Arsenal truly want to go toe-to-toe with Manchester City and stay in the Champions League elite, investing in a striker of Osimhen’s caliber might not be a luxury—it might be a necessity.
Could this finally be the summer Arsenal gets its striker of dreams? The ball, quite literally, is in Edu and Arteta’s court.
