He added, “The management, the Abia State Government and the players are so happy. He is an easy-going person and is loved by all.
William Troost-Ekong, a Super Eagles defender, is close to returning to duty following an injury layoff.
Troost-Ekong underwent surgery in February following an injury acquired at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The centre back was voted the competition's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The 30-year-old disclosed in an Instagram post that he has begun light training and physical activities, demonstrating determination and hard effort while working out on the grass.
Troost-Ekong is anticipated to return to action by the end of the season.
He is also set to play in Nigeria's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin in June.
