2027: I'm desperate to see Nigeria work—Peter Obi
Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has expressed his desire to see Nigeria succeed.
Obi, the Labour Party's Presidential contender for the 2023 election, talked recently on New Central TV.
When asked if he would accept to be a vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 election, Obi replied, "Quite simply, I'm not desperate to be Nigerian president. I am keen to see Nigeria succeed. I will hire persons who are more capable of doing the job.
"I even have folks that say I shouldn't come out in 2027, and I told them to offer themselves. And we will not place everyone on a scale.
Regarding the rumour that he may leave the Labour Party owing to the leadership issue, the former governor stated, "I would be here, and if anyone comes for us to negotiate or come together, he must tell me what his intentions are."
There are suggestions that Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, or NNPP, and Peter Obi may form an alliance before the 2027 election.
